Training Programme in Sandfly Identification held from 25.09.2020 to 27.09.2020

The training programme was organized by the Centre for Research Entomology (CRE) upon the request made by Dr. Wardha Refai from Medical Research Institute, Colombo.  The training programme was organized with the following objectives;

• Train the participants in sandfly preservation and processing
• Train the participants in identifying the sandflies up to species level
• Introduce the different sandfly culture techniques
• Introduce the molecular techniques involved in sandfly identification

The workshop was attended by three Entomological officers from the MRI, namely, Mr. H.P.N.T. Jayasinghe, Mr. U.L.Pramitha Rangana and Mr. Gayan Kumarasinghe. The programme was held at the Department of Zoology, University of Jaffna.
