The research group was established in the department in 2009 with the grant facilities obtained by Prof.S.N.Surendran. The lab supports postgraduate students extensively and offered lab space for many students from other universities as well. The molecular biology research group consists of Prof.S.N.Surendran; Dr.T.Eswaramohan; Dr.K.Gajapathy; Miss.S.Kokila and the PG students.
The projects operated by the group are;
- Molecular taxonomy and evolution of Anopheles species
- Molecular taxonomy and evolution of Sandfly species
- Cytogenetics of Mosquito species
- Dengue transmission
Currently, there are three PG students working on various aspects of the laboratory.
